Despre carte:

De asemenea, exista trei filme in suedeză realizate dupa primele trei carti si o versiune in limba engleza realizata doar dupa primul volum.

About the book:

It’s the first book from the Millennium series written by the Swedish author Stieg Larsson. Stieg wanted to have 10 volumes for this saga but, before he died from a heart attack in 2004, had written only three books (The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, The Girl Who Played With Fire and The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet’s Nest) and supposedly he also wrote half of the forth book, The Girl in the Spider’s Web (written by David Lagercrantz and published in the 27th of August 2015 – worldwide and 1st of September 2015 – USA).

Also, there are three movies in Swedish made after the first three books and an English version only made after the first volume. I only saw the English version and I though it was pretty good in capturing the story and the characters but I intent to watch he Swedish version too.

The book is a thriller with two main characters: Lisabeth Salander, a 26 year old woman with a photographic memory, hacker and introvert, and Mikael Blomkvist, an investigative journalist and publisher of a magazine called Millennium. It all starts with Mikael trying investigate a 36 year old disappearance of Henrik Vanger’s nice in exchange for information that can bring him back his freedom and rehabilitate his  good name as a journalism. The path of the two characters intersects when Lisabeth can’t help but meddle in Mikael’s affaires.

Who should read it?

Everyone who’s into good thrillers, or wants to start getting into thrillers. Has 554 pages, but it’s an easy read, which is why it shouldn’t take you too long to finish the book. I find it both relaxing and stimulating for the brain. It’s the kind of book where you can get lost in the story, can’t help but get involved in it and try to solve the puzzle.
