The Millennium Series – The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet’s Nest- review

Hello everybody,

Long time no speak about a book on this blog. It’s time to change that. I finished this book around September, last year. I meant to write about it but other subjects kept getting in the way. At some point I even thought I wrote the review. Pfff… Anyway, I’m glad I remembered and if you’re curious to know my opinion, just stick around.

Buna tuturor,

Pfff … Oricum, ma bucur ca mi-am amintit si daca sunteti curiosi sa aflat parerea mea despre carte, trebuie doar sa cititi mai departe.

About the book:

“Lisbeth Salander – the heart of Larsson’s two previous novels – lies in critical condition, a bullet wound to her head, in the intensive care unit of a Swedish city hospital. She’s fighting for her life in more ways than one: if and when she recovers, she’ll be taken back to Stockholm to stand trial for three murders. With the help of her friend, journalist Mikael Blomkvist, she will not only have to prove her innocence, but also identify and denounce those in authority who have allowed the vulnerable, like herself, to suffer abuse and violence. And, on her own, she will plot revenge – against the man who tried to kill her, and the corrupt government institutions that very nearly destroyed her life.

Once upon a time, she was a victim. Now Salander is fighting back.”

Despre carte:

Acum Salander lupta inapoi.”

Who should read it?

If you liked the first two and you’re intrigued about Lisabeth’s story, you should pick this up.

Personal opinion:

I’ll start by saying straight up that I didn’t like this book as much as the first ones.

I didn’t enjoy that the author keeps repeating himself with the story from the second volume. For someone who read this volume right after the second one, it was waaaay too much detail I already knew. Even if you don’t read them at short intervals of time, I bet it would still feel like that.

Also, throughout the story, the author keep repeating the same details he just wrote a few pages back. I think this is a bit of a mood kill for the reader.

What I liked about the book is that there isn’t just Lisabeth’s story anymore. You find more about the other characters as well. Some of them are really developed in this volume and it really appeals to me.

Even though I didn’t like the third book as much as the first too, it’s still nice to have closure to all the drama between Salander and her father.

Opinie personala:

That’s it for this week.
